I'm really behind on my tax returns. Can Numio help me?

Yep, no worries. You'd be amazed how many people get behind on their returns from time to time. Talk to us about it, and we'll get you sorted out. We can even work with IRD on your behalf if needed.

I already have Xero. Can I use Numio instead?

While Xero is a fantastic accounting software system, it is not a bookkeeping and accounting service in itself. Unless you want to look after everything yourself (which in most cases is not practical nor advisable), you still need an accounting service to help you prepare your tax returns and financial statements.

Numio is a bookkeeping and accounting service, so we can handle all of your accounting needs, including bookkeeping, tax, GST, financial statements, and more.

We work with Xero, so you can bring your existing Xero account to Numio, and we'll handle the rest.

Which sole traders would benefit from using Numio?

Some sole traders have more than 'basic' tax needs and can benefit from using a full accounting service like Numio.

Examples of more than 'basic' tax needs include:

  • You're trading as a company (i.e. limited liability company), partnership, or trust
  • You employ people (as employees or contractors), or plan to in the future
  • You have stock, 'work in progress', or other inventory that you need to track
  • You have a family trust, a rental property, or other investments that have taxable income
  • You have overseas income or investments that have taxable income
  • You have more than one business, or multiple income streams

Otherwise, if you're a sole trader we recommend checking out our friends at Hnry.

Who isn't Numio a good fit for?

Numio is not a good fit for:

  • Sole traders who have very basic tax needs (see Which sole traders would benefit from using Numio? for more details)
  • Larger companies with more than 20 employees
  • Companies with large inventory or very high stock turnover
  • Companies with complex tax needs such international tax, offshore subsidiaries, or other complex tax structures
  • Companies operated from overseas or by non-residents

If you're not sure, contact us and we'll be happy to help you. If you'd be better off somewhere else, we'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Can I use Numio without the core bookkeeping service?

Numio's core bookkeeping service is designed to take care of the most frustrating 'busywork' bookkeeping tasks, so you can focus on your business.

Constant and accurate bookkeeping is essential for proper tax planning and necessary for Numio's 'always on' accounting service.

Therefore, we don't offer a 'no bookkeeping' option.
