How to delete your account

You can delete your account and end your Numio service one of the following ways:

  • In the Numio app account page: select 'More' from the tabs at the bottom of the screen, then select your account (showing your email address) at the top. Then 'Delete account' at the bottom.
  • In Numio app chat: select 'Chat' from the tabs at the bottom of the screen, then send us a message requesting to delete your account.
  • By email: contact us at help@numio.co.nz requesting to delete your account.

What happens when you delete your account?

When you request to delete your account, we will contact you to confirm the request and ensure the correct transfer of your financial data and services.

Once confirmed, we will, within 30 days:

  • Terminate your Numio accounting and bookkeeping services,
  • Cease acting as your New Zealand tax agent,
  • Transfer any Xero accounts handled by Numio to you or a nominated party, and
  • Delete your account in the Numio app

Additionally, some data must be retained by Numio for legal and compliance purposes. See below.

Note that in some situations, you may be charged outstanding fees for the current year (for example, if you have recently joined and we have filed taxes for you already).

What data is retained?

To comply with Numio's obligations as an accounting and financial service, Numio must retain some data for up to 7 years. This includes:

  • Identity information – your name, business name, date of birth, and proof of identity,
  • Contact information – email address, phone number, and postal address,
  • Business information – including your business name, IRD number, and other business contact information,
  • Financial and billing information – payment details, bank account numbers, and billing records.
